BROAD COLLECTIVE

Monday night's cocktail party was another great Broad Collective event, with about 50 women (many new to the group) in attendance.  The Brag Table, our new tradition, was a great success, facilitating conversations and allowing women to promote their projects in a fun low-pressure way.

Broad Collective is an amazing experiment -- we are committed to organic, word of mouth growth and we trust that the right people will find their way to us.  The magical thing is, they always do!  At this Spring's party I met a painter who is starting a non-profit to provide donated art to womens' shelters.  I met a fashion blogger and a jewelry designer and two entertainment career coaches, an event planner and a woman who does PR for restaurants -- so many artist-entrepreneurs of so many different stripes with so much to learn from our collective wisdom and so much to be gained through alliances and collaboration.

The circle keeps expanding in beautiful and unexpected ways, and we're grateful to everyone who was there (and to those who wanted to be).  Keep coming back, and bring your like-minded friends.

We look forward to creating tools for Broads to communicate more consistently between events, and of course, to the next Key Lime Martini toast at this Summer's party!

Forty gorgeous, talented and fascinating women braved the freezing cold last night to meet up at Kanvas for cocktails and connecting.  One attendee called the women she met "down to earth, driven and inspiring" - what a great characterization! 

We had everyone from jewelry designers to filmmakers to architects to vloggers and comedians - a really diverse group  that embodies what Broad Collective is all about.  We're hoping lots of inspiration and cross-pollenation will come from the relationships that were born last night.

Monday night was fantastic - thank you to everyone who came.  Despite the rain (does it have to rain EVERY time we have a party?!), so many amazing women turned out. 

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming:  I felt a palpable sigh of relief from some people as they entered the room.  They could tell they were in a safe and positive place. 

There was a great mix of people:  I talked to a choreographer, an actor/personal stylist, screenwriters, producers, film directors, comics, agents, casating and development folks and so many others; I heard about inspiring projects and work/life challenges, hearing my own story in others' words.

Thanks to everyone for their openness and genuine curiosity about other people:  in our collective experiences we find strength and learn new ways to grow.

The cocktail party at Ava Lounge's rooftop garden was a great success!  It was inspiring to see so many amazing women connecting and planning and sharing stories.  The weather was kind (as were the mojitos!) and the energy was as warm and open - the whole event had a really wonderful vibe.

We created this site as a way to continue the conversation in between Broad Collective events, and to share information with the larger community of inter-disciplinary women in New York:
